General Membership Meeting of the Vernon Placer Miners Club
Met May 6, 2025 at the Hall at 1204 30th Ave, Vernon BC, President Mike McKenzie opened the meeting at 7:00 PM. Note-taker was Cal Olsson. 11 members were in attendance. Karen MacKenzie moved that the April minutes be accepted with out vocalization as read, seconded by Donna Smith, discussed voted on and passed by show of hands.

Email from Bjerstadts asking whether we would need announcer at May long weekend Fun Day event.
Membership Report by Donna Smith as Brenda Morrison absent:
17 families are currently paid up members in good standing.
3 Life timers in good standing
5 Honorary members in good standing..
Yearly dues are due in December. Dues are $20.00 per year per family.

Old Business Arising out of Last Meeting’s Minutes:
Still a problem to find someone to pay rent for room to. Makes one wonder if they are still a church or just an all day daycare. Is it really our Problem to solve?
***UPDATE- got email , its $350 now.
New Business:
Discussion of fun day May 17th and 18th long weekend, at Enderby Riverside RV Park . For entertainment will have activities used in placer prospecting and mining: gold rush, claim staking (non-virtual) , dirt toss, metal detecting (Saturday night), learn to pan, etc.. Pot luck in camp kitchen on Saturday evening, live music maybe.
There will be breakfast put on by Enderby Lions Club Saturday and Sunday. Begins 7 am goes to 9 am.
Ken Montie has lined up materials and plan of work for setting up flat pan.
Rick Peterson has lined up materials and plan of work for setting up learn to pan.
Donna Smith has lined up materials and plan of work for setting up metal detecting, gold and prizes draws.
Louie Yonkman and Rick Peterson worked out solution for getting water problem
Presentation
In lieu of a presentation we had a potluck dinner at 7 pm before the start of the meeting.
Donna brought some of Jerrys samples to show and tell.
Announcements.
1. Kim Creed is picking up a new lotto ticket for members part of the ‘High Roller miners’ group.
2. Rick Peterson got in touch Ken Caldwell of Lumby Days (on June 13th, 14th, and 15th) to affirm that Vernon Placer Miners will do an event learn to pan. Rick and Donna are going to check what gold we have on hand to be sure we have enough.
